The Synthesis and Domain Structures of Single-Crystal-Like Mesoscale BaTiO3 Plates

The (001) plate-like BaTiO3 piezoelectric micromaterials are synthesized by topochemical microcrystal conversion technique. plates with a length of 2~10 μm and thickness 0.5~1.3 obtained. dependence morphology on synthesis conditions is discussed in detail. crystal symmetry multiscale domain structures systematically investigated various characterizations. X-ray diffraction (XRD) Raman spectra analyses demonstrate the tetragonal oriented at room temperature. configurations micron polarized light microscope (PLM) piezoresponse force microscopy (PFM). single-crystal-like quality uniformity supported PLM observations. More importantly, classical 90° banded ferroelectric domains ~125 nm width observed for first time such plates. features mesoscale plate compared its bulk counterparts. results may provide insights into understanding designing functional materials.
